The climate and weather in Peru and Bolivia varies greatly by region and by the time of the day, therefore it is important to be completely prepared in your packing. You need to be prepared for everything from the sunny heat of the Andes, as well as their cold nights and downpours, to the humidity of the Amazon basin. The best way to be comfortable in Peru is to dress in layers and to always carry a raincoat around.

Here is the suggested packing list for clothes:

  • Comfortable walking shoes, waterproof preferable
  • 2 pairs of long pants (i.e. jeans, waterproof pants etc.)
  • T-shirts and tank tops for layering
  • 2 sweaters
  • 1 comfortable long sleeve shirt
  • 1 waterproof raincoat
  • 1 fleece to wear under the raincoat
  • Hat to protect from the sun
  • 1 pair of shorts
  • 1-2 nice outfits for nights out or nice dinners
  • Underwear and wool socks


  • Suitcase (rolling suitcase, internal frame backpack, or dufflebag – depending on your taste)
  • Day pack for day-long excursions
  • Towel and showering items (Already Included at the Hotels)
  • Sunscreen, lip balm, sunglasses
  • Travel alarm clock (Wake up calls avaialble upon request at the hotels)
  • Flashlight
  • Basic first aid kit, including any medications, Diamox for altitude, and ibuprofen
  • Insect repellent
  • Moneybelt
  • Bag or waist bag with secure zippers
  • Camera with plenty of memory and spare batteries
  • Sandals for showers
  • Binoculars
  • Sleeping bag (if planning on doing the Inca Trail, you can hire it from us too)
  • Refillable water bottle
